AMPP Global

In April 2020 the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP), was formed following a merger between NACE International, The Corrosion Society; and SSPC, The Society for Protective Coatings.

With 145 years combined experience and over 40,000 members in 130 countries consisting of inspectors, specialists, contractors, asset owners, corrosion experts, manufacturers, and consultants this merger combines a wealth of shared knowledge and experience to the corrosion industry on a scale as never before.

AMPP now provides the widest range of materials protection and performance information, standards, education, certification, training and contractor accreditation programming that industry demands. Through AMPP, we can raise the level of excellence of our professional community and have a greater impact on society through our expanded network of members worldwide.

AMPP UK Chapter

Following the NACE/SSPC merger the AMPP UK Chapter was formed from the NACE GB and Aberdeen Scotland sections.

Mission – to advance materials performance to protect society, assets and the environment

Values – A world built and protected with safe, reliable, sustainable materials.

Key Goals 

  • Promote creation, dissemination and application of knowledge of materials performance and protection
  • Grow, educate, certify and engage a diverse materials protection workforce
  • Champion innovations and solutions for a safer world that will strengthen environmental sustainability
  • Provide a UK based platform for all industry stakeholders to participate in
  • Support members and certified workforce at all levels
  • Create a network of materials performance and protection professionals

With over 40 years in the protective coating industry , from starting in the shipyard at an early age to present day chairman of AMPP UK

Comprehensive technical knowledge in; protective coating systems, composite wrap applications, passive fire protection, scaffolding, rope access, thermal insulation systems and CUI (Corrosion under Insulation) causes and preventative measures.

Associated with several services contractors within the Oil & Gas and ship building industry which; included secondments to various Clients, providing technical assistance to major onshore and offshore projects within the UK and overseas, during which time I have gained extensive knowledge in scope identification, problem solving and implementation.

 

Graeme Kennedy____

With almost 50 years coatings industry experience and as a founder member of the NACE Aberdeen Scotland section, Graeme as a Senior Certified Coatings Inspector and Protective Coatings Specialist brings extensive knowledge and experience to the UK Chapter specialising in protective coatings, tank linings and epoxy passive fire protection in oil & gas, offshore renewable energy, power, OEM and infrastructure.

Having been involved in coatings for 42 years Mike has gained extensive knowledge and experience in application, inspection, and lifecycle management of protective coatings. A founder member of the AMPP UK Chapter currently serves as chapter secretary. Mike is a qualified Senior Certified Coatings Inspector.

Patrick is a founder member of AMPP UK Chapter and currently serving as a Treasurer. He has over 25 years of experience in the field of Corrosion prevention, Cathodic Protection, Materials Engineering and Integrity Management. He is a professional Chartered Engineer, certified AMPP Corrosion Specialist and a Cathodic Protection Specialist (CP4:EN 15257).

Nicola is a founder member of NACE Aberdeen Scotland Section and is currently serving as Vice Chairperson. Having been involved in the coatings industry for over 10 years, she has gained invaluable knowledge on protective coatings, problem solving and inspection. Nicola is a Certified Coatings Inspector.
